Job and Esther
LBC welcomes Guest Pastor Michael Boys once again to preach and teach on the subject of God’s deliverance and providence.
In this morning’s message, we consider together two of the most loved, but often misunderstood, books of the Old Testament wisdom literature. Job and Esther’s stories include violence, relationships, bravery, mystery, and deliverance. They also encourage us today. In Esther, we see that God is powerfully present even when He seems most strikingly absent. In Job, we see that the suffering of God’s servant is for God’s hidden purposes. God is purposefully present even when He seems most painfully absent.
So, how can we be certain? We can be certain because of THE CROSS! Since God has already shown His love for us by sacrificing His only Son for the forgiveness of our sins, then we can be assured that all things will work together for our goo, His glory, and our sanctification and that He will preserve us through all things.
Let us reason together (Isaiah 1:18) and remember Jesus’ warning: be careful how we listen (Luke 8:18).
