Peace In The Midst Of Change

John 14:27

On the occasion of news that Blake Boys, Associate Pastor of Worship and Children’s Ministries at LBC, has recently accepted a Pastoral position at Grace Church of the Valley in Kingsburg, CA, verse 27 of Chapter 14 from the Book of John provides great comfort in this time of change.

God promises to provide for His church and faithfully provides more than we could even hope for. Just as the Lord has called Blake and his family to serve in another part of His vineyard, He will be faithful to provide for the needs of His church at LBC, and for His church at Kingsburg, which will share in the blessings that we have come to enjoy at Lakeside - for the good of all involved, and more importantly, for His glory. This promise, which should give us peace that surpasses all understanding, makes it possible for us to be faithful in submitting to God’s will. Moreover, the peace that Jesus offers is based on His unchanging character and the truth of His Word.

May we rejoice at the exciting things that the Lord has in store for Blake and Becca as they step out in faith and obedience to begin their new ministry in California, and may those of us at LBC look forward with eager anticipation to what God has in store as He works to change us according to His will so that we may glorify Him through our continued obedience and love.

Some practical things we can do in the midst of loss or change:

1. TRUST GOD (Isaiah 26:3-4)
2. PRAY TO GOD (Philippians 4:6)
3. OBEY GOD (John 14:15, Romans 12:1, 1 John 5:2-3)

May we take comfort in the knowledge that God is sovereignly working all things according to His will - for our good and His glory. May the Lord bless Blake’s new church through his continued ministry and faithfulness and may we who remain at LBC enjoy the continued blessings of our Lord Jesus Christ through our love for each other and obedience to His Word.
