Sunday Service (Ralph Clements)

Genesis 11:1-9, Selected Scriptures

All of us have been called to ignite a passion for God’s glory in all peoples. God is seeking for people to worship Him alone. He has given us the task of taking the gospel to all people so that His glory fills the earth. The question is: what am I doing with my one and only life?

1. Fill the earth (Genesis 1:28, 9:1)
The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever, but man’s desire to fill his own self worth superceded the glory of God. God’s glory is meant to fill the earth through the witness of His children and the spreading of the gospel message.

2. Man’s response (Genesis 11:1-9)
God’s glory, through the seed of Abraham, was brought to the ends of the earth and His people were established so that they could be a light to the nations. In spite of the fact that the people rebelled, God still uses them to glorify Himself.

3. Go and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8)
Jesus commissioned His disciples to spread the message that He had brought to the world, which was fulfilled through His sinless life and sacrificial death. All of this was directed at glorifying God the Father.

4. Disciples response (Acts)
Ironically, the peoples from other parts of the world, who spoke other languages because of God’s judgement in Genesis, were given the ability to hear the message of Peter as he proclaimed the gospel message by the power of the Holy Spirit.

5. Our response
a. Get up and fight every day for a heart bent toward God
b. Cultivate a heart of love and forgiveness for people
c. Send/Go or disobey

Ask that the Lord would you grant you a heart of love for the lost and a burning desire to reach them with the gospel message!
