1 Peter 2:9-10

As we mourn the passing of a beloved saint Jeannie Hoepner, who went to be with the Lord this evening, it is fitting that we read from 1 Peter 2 and Matthew 5:13-16 and reflect on what it means to be salt and light in the world. Jeannie and her husband George have powerfully demonstrated the love of Christ through their marriage and Jeannie truly exemplified what it means to live in such a way as to be ‘salt and light’ to the world. Being salt and light to the world means sharing the best of salvation with others so that they may repent and believe (Acts 26:18). This is our highest calling and we should endeavor in the strength of the Holy Spirit to the glory of God the Father
