The Transforming Power Of God's Grace

July 26, 2015 Speaker: Ken Ramey

Topic: Sanctification Passage: Titus 2:11–14

Sunday Service

Titus 2:11-14

In this section of Paul’s letter to Titus, he explained FIVE WAYS God’s grace transforms us so we can live godly lives marked by good deeds that are beautiful and powerful reflection of the gospel in an ungodly world.

1. GOD’S GRACE SAVES US (vv. 11)
God came to our rescue in the person of Jesus Christ (Luke 1:78). This was by the grace of God the Father. We could not save ourselves, therefore God had to send Christ to rescue to those who would believe (2 Timothy 1:9).

2. GOD’S GRACE SCHOOLS US (vv. 12)
The same grace that reconciles us to our heavenly Father also instructs us on how to live in such a way as to honor and glorify Him. It teaches us to say no to ungodly living. This is a lifetime of daily self-denial (Luke 9:23).

3. GOD’S GRACE SECURES US (vv. 13)
The grace of God instructs us to live godly lives and gives us hope and confidence that we have eternal life with Christ. Longing for the return of Christ is an indication of our security in the grace of God. We have assurance that the salvation that Christ ensured upon His death, God will be brought to completion upon His return (Philippians 1:6).

4. GOD’S GRACE SEPARATES US (v. 14a)
Christ gave Himself as our substitute to free us from the power of sin and from the punishment that comes with sin. As such, we have been separated from all others in this world. We no longer belong to Satan and this world because we have been purchased with the price of Christ’s blood (1 Corinthians 6:19).

4. GOD’S GRACE STIMULATES US (vv. 14b)
God’s grace makes us eager to do that which is good. Acts of kindness is evidence of God’s grace at work in our lives because good works are the inevitable outcome of the grace that is given to believers. Faith comes by grace and is manifest by the good works for which we are saved (Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 1:16).

Thank God for transforming your life by His grace. Ask Him to help you maintain a biblical balance between “what you need to do” and “what Jesus has already done” so that all you do for Christ will be done in response to and in reliance on what Christ has done for you.
