Sunday Service

Psalm 91

Psalm 91 comforts and consoles those of us who live in a fallen world where we are exposed to all sorts of dangerous people and deadly situations that threaten to harm us and challenges us to completely and confidently trust in the Most High God for our security and protection.

1. THE PROFESSION OF FAITH IN GOD’S PROTECTION (vv. 1-2)
When we acknowledge God’s ability to protect us, we recognize His sovereignty, power, omnipotence and omniscience. When we come to the realization that our relationship with God is a personal one, and when we continually spend time in God’s Word, and remember that it is because of His love for us that He wishes to protect us, we are able to profess faith and trust in that protection under all circumstances.

2. THE PORTRAYAL OF GOD’S PROTECTION (vv. 3-13)
God protects His children from those who lay traps and from deadly pestilence that afflicts others. His protection is likened to the wings of a mother bird and the shield of a soldier. God protects His children at all hours and under all circumstances, and the circumstances of His children never escapes His attention.

3. THE PROMISE OF GOD’S PROTECTION (vv. 14-16)
Even though Christians are effected with pain, disease and even death every day, nothing can harm a child of God unless the Lord permits it. God tells us that if we love Him, long to know Him and develop a relationship with Him, and call upon Him with dependence in prayer, He will protect us.

Thank God for how He has protected and provided for you this past week. Pray for opportunities to share the good news of salvation in Christ during these days when people are scared and soft to the gospel. Hold one another accountable to memorize Psalm 91:1-2 this next week.
