Today we continue learning about the tongue. As we grow and mature in Christ, the Spirit of God uses the Word of God to sanctify our tongues. If we apply the following biblical principles in the power of the Holy Spirit , we can - by God’s grace - learn what we should and shouldn’t say. This is a practical look at what the bible says we should DO and NOT DO with our tongues.

1. DONT’s
•Don’t lie
•Don’t gossip
•Don’t slander
•Don’t flatter
•Don’t swear
•Don’t criticize
•Don’t brag
•Don’t joke
•Don’t grumble and complain
•Don’t argue or talk back

2. DO’s
•Never underestimate the power of the tongue
•Make your speech a matter of daily prayer
•Study and meditate on the Bible’s teaching regarding the tongue
•Guard your heart
•Guard your tongue
•Be a person of few words
•Say things that build up rather than tear down
•Speak the truth in love
•Harness the positive power of your tongue
•Be aware that what comes out of our mouths play a key role in our testimony as a Christian
•Whenever you sin with your tongue, confess it to God and ask Him to cleanse your lips
•Always remember that your will be judged someday by your words

Pray that God would set a guard over your mouth and that all your words would be pleasing in His sight (Ps 19:14, 141:3). Ask Him to give you a tongue of a disciple who always knows what to say and when to say it and to whom to say it (Isa 50:4).
