Christian Citizenship

Topic: Citizenship Passage: Titus 3:1–8

Sunday Service

Titus 3:1-8

Two days ago Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States. While we have a new conservative president, it is important for us as Christians to remember that Jesus is still the king. And while it is appropriate to be grateful and proud that we are Americans who enjoy freedom and prosperity like no other country in the world, we must always remember we are ultimately citizens of heaven. We need to faithfully exercise our duties as U.S. citizens while at the same time seeking to lead others to salvation in Christ by proclaiming and modeling the transforming power of the gospel by living a life that is zealous for good deeds. In this passage, Paul gave FOUR REMINDERS that will help us be the best citizens and the best witnesses in this lost and dying world in which we live and minister.

1. Never forget your dutiful obligation to the world (vv. 1-2)

2. Never forget your sinful connection with the world (v. 3)

3. Never forget your merciful salvation from the world (vv. 4-7)

4. Never forget your powerful mission in the world (v. 8)

Thank God for mercifully rescuing you from your own sinful depravity and the sinful, depraved culture in which we live. Ask Him to help you be a faithful ambassador for Christ who is always looking for opportunities to share with others how they can be reconciled to God (cf. 2 Corinthians 5:18-20).
