Contact Sports Ministry

"So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God... just as I try to please everyone in everything I do, not seeking my own advantage, but that of many, that they may be saved." 1 Corinthians 10:31-33

Contact Sports is a local outreach ministry of Lakeside Bible Church. The vision for this active ministry is to help equip and enable the members at Lakeside to make contact with people in the community for the sake of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Whether it is basketball, volleyball, soccer, touch football, tennis, pickleball, golf, and more, there are several opportunities to get involved with the Sports Ministry at Lakeside Bible Church.

BASKETBALL

Every Monday night, Lakeside opens its gym doors at 6:30pm for half-court, four-on-four, pick-up basketball. High school students and up are welcome to come and play each week. Pinnies, balls, music, ice water, restrooms, and air conditioning are all provided at no cost to the public. On occasion, tournaments are organized for players to form teams and make a run for first place!

Each week, we pray before we play, highlight other ministries of Lakeside for those in spiritual need, and build relationships with the players so that we might share the Good News found in God’s Word.

VOLLEYBALL

The Student Ministry at Lakeside often uses the two courts in the gym for coed volleyball pick-up games and organized tournaments for all ages.

PICKLEBALL

If you are interested in pickleball, an exciting sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong, we have something for you! Every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30pm, Mark and D’Edra Frugé play with a group of other players at the April Sound Country Club tennis courts. While this paddle sport is for all ages and the rules of play are simple to learn, pickleball can move quickly into fast-paced competition once more experienced.

SOCCER

Because there is a growing interest in soccer at Lakeside, opportunities to play have increased. There are indoor soccer nights in the gym, pick-up games at local high schools some evenings, adult pick-up games on the weekend in the Woodforest area, and a few players that head down to play at Dutch Lions soccer facility on certain nights.

Come be a part of the Contact Sports Ministry at Lakeside Bible Church! If there is any way that we can help its members more effectively make contact with its community through sports, please contact Kyle Jenison at kyle@lakesidebiblechurch.org or call the church office.
